Mi Villa Rioja Blanco 2010 – Bodegas Perica
£8.95
Good clean acidity in the young wine, these characteristics used to be masked by heavy oaked ageing; however this also functioned to cover problems in the wine making. This is characteristic of many of the old Spanish white wines. Grapes were harvested often a little late but still during the warm autumn months. Grapes began to ferment before they reached the winery which resulted in the brown-tinged oxidized whites of teh past. Thankfully new wine making and night time harvest ensures we get crunchy, vibrant white wine that make us feel that we are on a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. Bodegas Perica Rioja Blanco has no oak, so lots of fresh limes and lemons. Rich straw colour, white flowers and grape on the nose. Clean limes and crisp apple palate. Balanced spicy finish. Delicious as an aperitif, with fish or everyday drinking.
