Robinia Rosato IGT 2009 – Cantina Alto Belice
£6.95
Good refreshing juice, a Rosato with hardly any residual sugar so it is great with charred meats, fish, vegetables, it has the gentle tannins that can cope with food rather than compete. Raspberry with violet edge, slightly macerated fruit, wild herbs on the nose. Good round fruited finish. This is a great food wine, especially with barbeques but is also a just as good for relaxed drinking with friends. Lovely wine really, unfussy and one of those silly things, good to share with friends, as in what on earth isn’t good to share with friends, wine wise obviously. This is a wine you can buy by the case and not feel bothered when a few chums park up and drink you dry.
Alto Belice are a splendidly appointed modern cooperative in the Commune di San Ciperello. They have, over the last five years, invested heavily in both the winery and in support of their growers. This has produced enropmous improvements in the quality and longevity of their products. Interestingly, they are now looking to increase their exports in an exponential manner. So, we will have plenty of finely produced, fruit forward warm Sicilian bottles for the foreseeable future.
