Trebbiano Chardonnay Rubicone IGT EGot – Cevico
£6.50
E Got. As a range these wines reflect the no nonsense Emilia Romagnan attitude to wine. Yes it is important but it’s the food that we are after, the wine it aids the journey, makes the heart sing with the easy fruity accessibility of the whole caboosh.
Lovely summer wine, clean entry but lots of apple and pears with a hint of crisp lime acidity, one for the garden and the picnic. Straw yellow colour with greenish tinge.Intense fragrance or tropical fruit. Rounded, fresh flavour, well-balanced.With starters, as an accompaniment to light rice and pasta dishes, fish and cold dishes.
Cevico are the biggest company we deal with and they are big indeed. Fourth largest private winery in Italy but we like them and for some bizarre reason, (must be our smiles) they like us. They have a bewildering array of wines, which is actually testament to how good they are. They make wines that are specific to the regions where the vines are grown and they keep that typicity to the forefront as much as they can. We’ve also discovered new wines and regions that we would never have heard of before. Borgo Eliceo DOC anyone? It is pretty cracking actually.
